Ishpeming – Patricia A. Nelson, age 71, longtime Ishpeming resident passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming. Patricia was under the loving care of her family, the Staff at MCMCF and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.

Pat was born March 16, 1944 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late William and Pauline (Gill) Hickey. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1962. Pat had worked as a sales clerk at the J C Penney Store in Ishpeming and following its closure the Marquette Store for many years, retiring in 1999. Pat enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers along with listening to Ishpeming Hematite sporting events on the radio.

Survivors include her son Bill (Pam) Nelson of Negaunee, twin-daughters – Peggy (Henry) Swenor of York, PA and Linda Nelson of Ishpeming, a brother Dennis (Linda) Hickey of Marquette, a sister-in-law Sharon Hickey of Marquette, 5 grandchildren – Christopher (Erica) Nelson, Daniel Nelson, Kaitlyn Nelson, Jenna Swenor, and Abigail Swenor, 2 great grandchildren Allie and Charlotte Nelson, a niece Jacqueline King and a nephew Derek Hickey. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother David Hickey and a special aunt and uncle Virginia and Lawrence Amell.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 until 7 pm on Thursday July 2, 2015 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00pm with the Rev. Mark Broberg to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the activities dept. at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility, 200 Saginaw St., Ishpeming, MI 49849.
