Ishpeming Twp. – Patricia A. Koivula, age 61, of 95 N. Shore Dr., Ishpeming Twp. passed away on Sunday May 27, 2012 at her home following a battle with myotonic dystrophy for several years.


Patricia was born August 20, 1950 in Appleton, the daughter of Helen (Woods) and the late Frank Calmes. She grew up in Appleton and was a graduate of the Appleton East High School, Class of 1968. Patricia married Allen Koivula in Oct. of 1973 and they moved to Mosinee, WI two years later. Following 13 years in Mosinee, Patricia and Allen moved to Ishpeming, MI in 1988 and had resided here since. Patricia enjoyed watching TV, especially the older shows.


Survivors include her husband Allen W. Koivula of Ishpeming, her mother Helen Calmes of Appleton, WI, 2 brothers – Michael (Jean) Calmes of Menasha, WI and Frank (Barbara) Calmes of Appleton, WI, 3 sisters – Kathy (Dennis) VanBoxtel of Appleton, WI, Sharon (Stuart) Howard of St. Louis, MO and Linda Calmes of Appleton, WI, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Frank, a brother Robert and 2 sisters – Ellen and Barbara.


Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm on Thursday May 31, 2012 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming, MI with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:00pm on Thursday until the time of the services at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau, WI.
