Ishpeming, MI- Patricia Ann Garrett, age 84, Ishpeming resident passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of her family and Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.

Patricia was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on September 3, 1937, to John and Carmen (LaMere) Wirtanen. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1956. Pat worked at the Ishpeming Public Schools, as a secretary for the Principal and Superintendent.

Pat became the Class Representative for the class of 1956.  She created a class collection of historical documents which includes class memorabilia, class reunion information and photos and documentation of the loss of past classmates.  This wonderful class memory book will be donated to the IHS class archives for all to enjoy.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Pat loved spending time at camp on Penglase Lake and had a love for nature. Her and Glenn enjoyed picnics and time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. Pat was very meticulous and enjoyed the craft of Hardanger Embroidery.

Pat is survived by her husband Glenn Garrett, whom she married on July 20, 1963, two children; Jeanne (Bill) Jenkin of Germantown, WI, and Robert (Lori) Garrett of Freedom, WI, three grandchildren; Jacob Jenkin, Brooke and Kelly Garrett, a brother John (Kay) Wirtanen of Ishpeming, sister-in-law Julie Barbiere of Ishpeming along with several nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her father John Wirtanen, mother Carmen Barbiere, sister Carmen Anderson, brother Phillip Barbiere and step-father August "Tino" Barbiere.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 8, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming, with Fr. Christian Flagstadt officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow at K/D Hall. Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
