Humboldt- Norman A. Luoma, age 88, lifelong area resident, passed away on Monday September 12, 2022 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of his family, Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice, and nursing home staff.
Norman was born in Marquette on May 20, 1934, son of the late Uno and Alice (Wiljanen) Luoma. Norman served the country in the United States Army. He worked for Cliffs as a Heavy Equipment Operator until his retirement. Norman was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming.
Norman enjoyed visiting and spending time with his friends, reading, and was an all-around people person. He had the great opportunity of travelling to Finland 5 different times, where he was able to meet family members who still live there. Most of all Norman enjoyed spending time with his wife Shirley.
Norman is survived by his wife Shirley (Klemola) Luoma, son- Brad (Stacey) Luoma, brother- Robert "Otto" (Rogie) Luoma, sister-in-law- Lorraine Luoma, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Bernie Luoma, 3 sisters-in-law- Helen Heikkinen, June Klemola, Beverley Sanders, brother-in-law- Calvin Klemola, and niece- Becky Luoma-Bressette.
Norman's family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Tuesday September 20, 2022 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon with Rev. Steve Weston officiating. A luncheon will follow the services in the church fellowship hall. Interment will take place in the Humboldt Township Cemetery.
