Marquette, MI- Norman "Bruce" Laurila, age 72 of 1530 W. Ridge St. #40 Marquette was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the UP Health System Marquette.

Bruce was born March 17, 1944 in Ishpeming the son of the late Norman & Delight (Perry) Laurila. He grew up in Negaunee and was a graduate of Negaunee High School, class of 1963. Bruce worked for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co for 36 years at the Empire & Tilden Mines, retiring as a heavy equipment operator in 2002. He was a member of the local Steelworkers Union 4950.

Bruce was a hard working family man; if something was broke he loved fixing it, a man of all trades. He was a kind and loving husband, a father of two children and a grandfather to two beautiful grandchildren. Bruce and Vickie would travel to Houston, TX often to see his grandchildren to watch them in their activities and hobbies.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Vickie (Mariuzza) Laurila, a daughter Angel (Matthew) Berg of Houston, TX, a son Randy Laurila of Ishpeming, 2 grandchildren: Macy Mae Berg and Derek Stephen Berg, 3 brothers: Lenard Laurila of Negaunee, Gerald (Ann) Laurila of Rochester, MN and Jan (Judy) Laurila of Negaunee, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Norman & Delight Laurila, a brother Melvin Laurila, granddaughter Sydney and sister in law Janet Laurila.

Bruce's family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm with Rev. Marcia Solberg officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Interment will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery columbarium.
