Ishpeming- Nancy K. Vahamaa, age 68, lifelong area resident, passed away on Saturday September 7, 2024 at UP Health System Marquette, while in the loving care of her family, and hospital staff.

Nancy was born in Ishpeming on June 28, 1956, daughter of the late John and Genevieve (Belanger) Nelson. She was a graduate of Ishpeming High School, class of 1974. Following graduation she married her husband Paul Vahamaa Sr. on November 23, 1974. Nancy worked at Bell Hospital for many years.

Nancy was a longtime member of the Ishpeming Women's Pool league, playing for Hickey's, the Venice, and most recently with the Royal, and was also a member of the Tilden Club. Nancy enjoyed crafting, gardening, watching her grandkids play sports, and was a diehard Lions fan.

Nancy is survived by 3 children- Paul Vahamaa Jr., Stacie (Jeff Mattson) Vahamaa, Andrew Vahamaa, 2 sisters- Janice (Dan LaFramboise) Mattson, Debbie (Randy) Vanslambrouck, 6 grandchildren- Alyse Vahamaa, Noah Chipman, Anastasia Chipman, Callie White, Nolan White, Evan Vahamaa, 1 great granddaughter- Saige Hetrick, significant other- Mike Perry, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Paul Vahamaa Sr., brother- John Paul Nelson, daughter-in-law- Amy Vahamaa, and brother-in-law- Stephen Mattson.

Nancy's family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Saturday September 14, 2024 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 1:00pm with Fr. Christian Flagstadt officiating.
