Ishpeming, MI - Nancy Ann Dieterle, age 72, of 205 S. Lilac Street, Ishpeming, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022, at her home, under the loving care of her family and Lake Superior Hospice.
Nancy was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey on December 9, 1949, to Hazel and Robert Nichols. She grew up traveling to several locations where her father was stationed in the Army, before returning to the family's hometown of Lake City, Michigan. Nancy graduated from Houghton Lake High School in 1967. That same year, she married the love of her life, Irv Dieterle.
Irv and Nancy spent many years building their life together, constructing many beautiful homes for their family, until finally settling in the Upper Peninsula. They enjoyed spending time at their summer home, where their family could all gather. An avid sports fan, and supporter of her husband's vast coaching career, Nancy could often be found near center court rooting for her husband and beloved Westwood Patriots. Her passion for sports carried over into cheering on her grandchildren, especially her youngest grandchild, Tristan. In recent years, she enjoyed traveling to the Super Bowl, during which she met many of her favorite sports personalities and appearing on NFL Live, as well as attending the NCAA Final Four to cheer on the Michigan State Spartans.
Nancy worked for 20 years as the Office Manager for Clancy, Hanson, Chilman, Graybill and Greenlee Law Firm, transitioning to Kendricks, Bordeau Law during their merger, serving there until her retirement. Nancy was a woman of deep faith and personal strength, a quality she instilled into her children and grandchildren. She spent her retired years enjoying her grandchildren, golden retrievers, and spending time with her family doing the things she loved most.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Irv Dieterle, 3 children - Denise (Paul) Platteborze of Ishpeming, Duke Dieterle (Jennifer Frye) of Rochester, MN, and Jamie Dieterle (Dr. Kevin Landmark) of Ishpeming, 5 grandchildren - Tia and Kaydee Platteborze, Kendra and Andrew Dieterle, and Tristan Dieterle, and 2 great-grandchildren, along with her mother, Hazel Lenkiewicz of Lake City, MI, brothers Robert Nichols of Sylvester, GA, Ed (Bobbi) Nichols of Houghton Lake, MI, sister Patricia Hose of Lake City, MI, and special niece Debra Southard (Maurice Evans) of Dayton, OH.
