Ishpeming- Nancy Kay Asikainen, age 90, lifelong area resident, passed away on Sunday November 3, 2024 at the Eastwood Nursing Center where she had been a resident since August.

Nancy was born in Negaunee at the Twin City Hospital on May 8, 1934, daughter of the late Sigurd and Myrtle (Burling) Anderson. Nancy grew up in Ishpeming where she was a member of the Mission Covenant Church where she served on the church council. She was active in volunteering at Bell Hospital and the Mather Nursing Home, and was part of ALANON for over 30 years. Nancy worked as clerk at the Negaunee IGA store, and formerly worked as a waitress at the American and the Dairy Mart.

Nancy enjoyed participating in her monthly card club, playing solitaire, making crochet dolls that won several awards at the county fair, and going for her weekly visits to the hairdresser.

Nancy is survived by, 4 children- Gary Asikainen of Negaunee, James (Diane) Asikainen, Kathy (Russell) Sylvester, Connie Hough all of Ishpeming, 7 grandchildren- Andrew (Annie) Asikainen, Shawn Asikainen, Craig (Paige) Asikainen, Amy (David) Huetter, Ann Sylvester, Deanna Stephens, Trevor Stephens, 12 great grandchildren- Cassandra, Allison, Evan, Desmond, Logan, Luke, Liam, Adriana, Trevor, Quinton, Madison, Dalton, 3 great great grandsons- Jaemin, Malachi, Michael, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by parents, husband- Robert Asikainen, son- Robert "Dribs" Asikainen, along with 7 sisters and 2 brothers.

Following Nancy's wishes, cremation will take place with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Nancy will be interred in the columbarium at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
