Ishpeming – Myrna L. Nelson, age 67, of 930 N. Westwood Dr. (North Lake Loc.) passed away on Friday January 9, 2015 at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming Twp. where she had been a resident since Dec. 31, 2014.

Myrna was born January 14, 1947 in Chicago, IL the daughter of the late James and Vieno (Aho) Maxwell. She moved with her family to the Ishpeming area in her early childhood and was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School. Myrna was proud to be a homemaker raising her six children. Her family was most important to her especially her grandchildren whom were the light of her life. Myrna also enjoyed playing BINGO twice weekly at the Ishpeming VFW, along with watching her favorite TV shows.

Survivors include her six children – Michelle (Matthew) Lorenz of Hudsonville, MI, Christi (John) Robinson of Winston-Salem, NC, Janel (Patrick) Huddleston of Tucson, AZ, Thomas Nelson of Lower Michigan, Mark Nelson of Ishpeming and Christopher Nelson of Ishpeming; a sister Myra (Paul) Weisner of Manassas, VA; a brother Bill (Wendy) Maxwell of Lindenhurst, IL; 10 grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas P. Nelson in 2001.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 until 6pm on Tuesday January 13, 2015 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 6:00pm on Tuesday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Myrna's family wishes to thank all the folks at the Ishpeming VFW whom she enjoyed over the years while playing BINGO and the staff at the Mather Nursing Center for their kind and compassionate care this past week.
