Diorite – Miriam L. "Mickey" Pennala age 66, longtime Diorite resident passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 while at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

Miriam was born on January 29, 1950 in Negaunee, MI to the late Clark and Miriam (Koski) Mongiat. Miriam was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Greenwood. In her free time she enjoyed volunteering at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans, and especially enjoyed playing BINGO.

Miriam is survived by her sons- Douglas (Tammy) Pennala of Negaunee, Steven Pennala of Ishpeming, two brothers- Daniel Mongiat of Republic, James (Judy) Mongiat of Ishpeming Twp., one sister- Peggy (Gerald) Koski of Ishpeming Twp., three grandchildren- Briana Pennala, Hayden Pennala, Parker Pennala, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Miriam was preceded in death by her parents, son- Troy Pennala, and former husband Ronald Pennala.

A memorial gathering will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Greenwood American Legion with a luncheon to follow.
