Ontonagon, MI - Miriam Effie Kujanen, age 87, long time Republic Twp. resident, passed away Monday, July 7th, 2008 at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital in the long term care unit.

Miriam was born in Republic, Michigan on July 7, 1921, the daughter of the late Earl H. and Imbie (Alatalo) Arola. She was a 1939 graduate of Republic High School and a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Miriam is survived by two daughters: Sharon (Joseph) Nies of Ontonagon, & Sandra (John) Doroni of Detroit, a son: Donald (Jan) Kujanen of Minneapolis, MN, 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 3 nieces and a brother, Melvin Arola of Republic.
Miriam was preceded in death by her husband Donald Kujanen who passed away on June 19, 2000.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 1:00PM at Bethany Lutheran Church, Republic, with Katherine Finegan officiating. Miriam's family will greet friends and relatives from 11:00AM until the time of services. Interment will take place at the Republic Twp Cemetery.
