National Mine - Mildred H. Micklow, age 89, most recently of 98 Croix St. in Negaunee and longtime National Mine resident passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at UP Health System Bell.

Mildred was born November 9, 1925 in Imperial Heights (Michigamme), the daughter of the late Alfred and Jennie (Hill) Micklow. She grew up in Humboldt Twp. and was a graduate of the Champion High School Class of 1943. After graduation, Mildred worked at the Gossard before her nearly 40 year career at the JC Penney store in Ishpeming, retiring as office manager in the late 1980's. She was a member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church. Mildred enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, blueberry picking, socializing and especially time spent with her nieces and nephews.

Mildred is survived by 2 sisters - Ruth Nykanen of Marquette and Audrey Marcotte of Ishpeming; nieces and nephews - Steven, Jeffrey (Gina), Neil (Carol) Janice (Terry), Judy (Jon), John (Amy) and Jerry; several great nieces and nephews and cousins, along with a host of brothers and sisters in faith. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother Norman.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am - 1:00pm on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, Co. Rd. 492, Negaunee, where funeral services will follow at 1:00pm with Chas Prusi to officiate. Interment will take place at the Humboldt Twp. Cemetery at a later date.
