Ishpeming, MI- Michael E. Waters, Sr. age 75 of Ishpeming passed away unexpectedly at home on June 4, 2024.

Michael was born August 16, 1948, in Waukegan, IL, to Earl and Hilda (Spitz) Waters. The family relocated to the Palmer area when he was young.

He graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1967. Mike married Gail Sippola on December 8, 1967, and they welcomed Debra and Michael Jr., in 1968 & 1969, respectively. He was the hardest worker you could find and retired from careers at both Negaunee City Fire Department and as a welder at Cleveland Cliffs.

Later in life Mike married Bonnie Pizziola on June 1, 2006. They combined loving families with Mike treating her children and grandchildren as his own.

Mike was a longtime member of the Helen Lake Association and Negaunee Elks Club and had too many friends to count. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling and most of all his family. He was a person always willing to lend a hand, asking for nothing in return, but happy to accept a Miller High Life. He had a kind, happy demeanor and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mike is survived by his wife Bonnie, children; Debra (Paul) Coleman, Michael (Jill) Waters Jr., Sherry (Rob Katona) Raihala, Paul (Jessica) Raihala, grandchildren; Nicholas Lehtinen, Christina Raihala, David Raihala, and Paul Raihala III, great grandchildren; Jack and Adalyn Lehtinen, and Gwendolyn Mager-Piirainen, brother; Earl, and sister; Ann Waters.

Mike was preceded by his parents and a brother Steve.

Private family services were held, and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
