Ishpeming, MI - Michael Ward Williams, age 59, of 224 Houghton St. Ishpeming,  passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2024, at his home in Ishpeming.

Michael was born in Ishpeming on March 5, 1965, a son of the late Rosemary V. (Portale) and Ward R. Williams. Mike grew up in Ishpeming Twp. and was a graduate of the Westwood High School, Class of 1983.  Mike served his country in the United States Army having been stationed in Germany. He went on to attended NMU and received his engineering degree from MTU as an electrical engineer. He married the former Debbie Grimes at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming, and they enjoyed 34 years of marriage together.

Mike worked as an electrical engineer for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. at the Empire and Tilden Mines for 19 years, from which he received a disability retirement. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, enjoyed walks with their German Sheppard "Bella" and loved their three Bengal cats. Mike found pleasure in going for rides to his property on the Dead River Basin, where he had dreams of building a home.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Debbie M. (Grimes) Williams of Ishpeming, sister, Teresa (Greg) Hoffman of Belleville, IL, aunt and uncle, Carmelo "Blondie" & Phyllis Portale, nephew John Hoffman and mother-in-law Dorothy Grimes. He was preceded by his parents and father-in-law Edward Grimes.

Per Michael's wishes, cremation will take place, and no public services will be held.
