Marquette- Michael E. Timberman age 68, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday June 7, 2022 while in the loving care of his wife Shirley and Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.
Mike was born in Portland, Oregon on February 5, 1954, son of the late Gordon Timberman and Delores (Lucker) Bryant. He grew up in the Portland area, briefly moving to Spokane, WA before relocating to New Jersey where he hitch hiked his way across the country landing in San Francisco, CA where he worked and resided from 1974 until his wife Shirley dragged him to the UP in 2014.
While in San Francisco Mike tried joining the circus but wound up in the Iron Workers Union Local 377 of San Franciso and Oakland. Mike loved doing sudoku, crossword puzzles, the daily jumble, and reading the sports page in the paper. He was a huge San Franciso Giants and a 49ers fan up until moving to the UP where he became a Green Bay Packers shareholder.
Mike and Shirley loved to play the horses in the big Triple Crown races. They had a good system and usually had a winner or two. But Mike wasn't the guy to play the favorite or the longest odds horse either. So when he put a $2.00 win, place, show on the longest odds in this years Derby, Shirley was a bit surprised. He picked the right horse – Rich Strike came in first with the big money win for Mike.
Mike is survived by his wife of 31 years Shirley (Gedvillas) Timberman, 2 sisters- Barbara Meletta of West Milford, NJ, Patty (Greg) VanDam of Bushkill, PA, 5 nephews- Don (Marlena) Meletta of West Milford, NJ, Brandon, Scott, William, and Christopher VanDam all of Portland, OR, as well as his special friends Patrick Kellogg, Jo Huges, Kira Reginato, Ralph Wood, and Cindy Palmer. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Charles R. Timberman, nephew- Timothy Meletta, and step-father- Bob Bryant.
