Humboldt- Michael G. Ferris, age 68, longtime area resident, passed away on Sunday December 4, 2022 at his home.

Mike was born on September 9, 1954 in Detroit, son of the late Ralph Ferris and Diane Amesse. He graduated from Warren Mott High School class of 1972. Following graduation he attended Barber school and moved to California where he cut hair before moving to the Upper Peninsula where he has lived ever since. Mike worked for W/E energies for over 30 years retiring in October of 2018.

Mike was a member of the Lions club where he enjoyed volunteering, and making potato sausage. He loved fishing, his golden retrievers, and going on walks with his dog Comet. Mike enjoyed watching baseball and football, cheering on the Detroit Tigers, and Lions. He played in the local men's softball, bowling, and pool leagues, and enjoyed helping coach little league baseball.

Mike is survived by his daughter- Jamee (fiancé: Judd Girskis) Ferris, "step"-son- Jace (Rachel Mattila) Nelson, siblings- Brenda (Cy) Pearsyn, David (Sue) Ferris, Cindy (Rick) Wahlberg, Renee (Ken) Beech, step-siblings- Sherry Thomas, Edward Thomas, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother- Ralph (Josephine) Ferris, and mother and stepfather- Diane (Ken) Morton.

A celebration of Mike's life will take place at a later date.
