Obituary

Republic- Melba L. Aho, age 81 of 7157 State Hwy M-95 Republic passed away Friday August 7, 2015 at UP Health System Bell with her family at her side.

Melba was born September 15, 1933 in Republic to Felix & Imbie (Tuomi) Maki. Melba was valedictorian of her class of 1951 from Republic High School. She was an active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for 66 years. She also served on the church council and was an avid WELCA member. Melba was also a member of the Republic Schools PTA. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and going for walks.

Melba is survived by 5 children: Susan (Gary) Skinner of Fredericksburg, VA, Patricia Tresedder of Wausau, WI, Karen Royce of Republic, John (fiancée Patti) Aho of Medford, NJ and Nancy (Wayne) Johnson of Kodiak, AK, 2 brothers: Allen (Geraldine) Maki of Marquette, Gerald (Char) Maki of Bradenton, FL, a sister Arlene (Ron) Huotari of Iron Mountain, a sister in law Myrna (John) Todd of Republic, 11 grandchildren: Bradley Skinner, Patrick (Courtney) Skinner, Bradley (Gina) Tresedder, Don Tresedder, Scott Tresedder, Megan Tresedder, Karl (fiancée Kristy) Mykkanen, Dustin Mykkanen, Zachary Aho, Ethan (fiancée Sarah) Johnson and Sam Johnson, 2 great grandchildren: Lennon Mykkanen and Hayden Skinner, along with several nieces and nephews. Melba was preceded in death by her husband Donald Aho in 2012, a brother Marvin Maki, a sister Mabel Maki, a grandson Andrew Mykkanen and son in law Bill Tresedder.

Funeral service for Melba will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday August 10, 2015 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic with Rev James Fegan officiating. Pallbearers will be Melba's grandchildren.

Melba's family will greet relatives and friends on Monday at the Bethany Lutheran Church from 12:00 noon until the time of service.

A luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Memorial considerations may be directed to the Bethany Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in memory of Melba.
