Ishpeming- M. Elaine Poirier, age 84, longtime Ishpeming area resident, passed away on June 3, 2020 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of her family and nursing home staff.

Elaine was born in Ishpeming on May 23, 1936 daughter of the late John "Jack" and Gertrude (Conibear) Treloar. She attended Ishpeming High School, graduating with the class of 1954. She worked as a teacher aid for many years at the National Mine School.

Elaine was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping in the summers, spending time with her grandkids, doing word searches, travelling, especially road trips to see the country and was an avid reader.

Elaine is survived by 4 sons- Tim (JoAnn) Poirier of Tucson, AZ, Mark (Julie Green) Poirier of Ishpeming, Randy (Janet) Poirier of Fond du Lac, WI, Todd (Michelle Kangas) Poirier of Ishpeming, 1 sister- Joyce Guizzette, 11 grandchildren- Scott, Jolene, Jessie, Jeff, Jill, Brian, Jennifer, Justin, Rebecca, Allyson, Cooper, 11 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Joe in 1997.

Elaine's family will celebrate her life with family and friends at the Ishpeming Cemetery on June 6, 2020 at 11:00am with Rev. Matt Osborne officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Wesley United Methodist Church memorial fund.
