Michigamme – Mayme A. Anderson, age 97, lifelong Michigamme resident passed away at 11:45pm on Sunday March 11, 2007 at the Bell Memorial Hospital in Ishpeming. She had been a resident at the Mather Nursing Center for the past year and a half.
Mayme was born August 8, 1909 in Michigamme the eldest of 12 children born to the late David J. and Albina (Marois) Myers. She was a graduate of the Michigamme High School. Mayme was a self employed caretaker of paraplegics' which she did for 32 years. Mayme was a former member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Michigamme, where she had been involved with the ladies auxiliary, and a current member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion. She enjoyed the summer months in Michigamme where she often could be found spending time in her garden.
Survivors include two sisters – Mildred Wolf of Danberry, WI and Carol Heasley of Wyoming, MN; 3 brothers – Frances Myers of Owatonna, MN, Phillip Myers of Hinkley, MN and Clifford Myers of Center City, MN along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Anderson in 1981, 3 sisters – Helen Willis, Theresa Williamson and Leona Colombe; and three brothers – Joseph Herbert and Robert Myers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday March 15, 2007 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Msgr. Peter Oberto to officiate. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens in Negaunee Twp. A Memorial Mass will also be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion at 11:00am on Monday March 26, 2007 with the Rev. Fr. Henry Maibusch to officiate.
Friends may call at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home from 10:00 until 11:00am on Thursday.
