Harvey, MI- Matthew John "Matt" Steinhausen, age 40, of Harvey passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020.

Matthew was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on July 12, 1979, a son of Janice (Lamont) and Stephen R. Steinhausen.

Matt lived and worked in Texas, Los Angles and Napa Valley in the restaurant industry, he previously worked at Elizabeth's Chop House in Marquette and was currently the manager of Lake Superior Smokehouse & Brew Pub in Harvey.

In his spare time Matt loved the outdoors: Kayaking, biking, and swimming.  He will be sadly missed by his canine campion "Ruby".  Matt was most happy by giving to others.

Matt is survived by his father, Stephen (Gail Latvala) Steinhausen Sr. of Ishpeming, his mother Janice (Patrick Connolly) Steinhausen of Marquette, four brothers; Jonathan (Stanley)  Barth, of Lancaster, CA; Stephen R. Steinhausen Jr., Thomas A. Steinhausen, both of Indiana; and Christopher P. Steinhausen, of Marquette, a nephew and "adopted son" Daniel Steinhausen along with nephews: Brent and Jerek and nieces Alexis, Madison and Gabriel, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Matt was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Elmo and Marion Lamont, and paternal grandparents: Dorothy M. Couillard and Clarence "Buck" Couillard.

Matt's family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm on Friday February 14, 2020 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home (400 N. Third St. Ishpeming) where funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm with Fr. Ryan Ford to officiate.

Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
