Michigamme, MI - Mathew David "Mat" Querfeld passed away at the age of 33 on September 28th, 2016.

He was born in Santa Rosa, California on May 3rd, 1983. His proud parents are Marti Querfeld and the late David K Querfeld. As a young child he lived in Kona, HI. and Ann Arbor, MI. Then moved to the Upper Penninsula when he was ready to start kindergarten. He graduated from Republic Michigamme High School and attended Northern Michigan University, majoring in computer science and engineering.

He is survived by his mother Marti Querfeld, his uncle Mark Brezvai and several cousins. He is proceeded in death by his father David K Querfeld and his grandparents Bill and Arla Querfeld and Martin and Dorothy Brezvai. Also an uncle Biff Querfeld and aunt Kay Querfeld.
Mat loved to go fast. He was an avid skier. Downhill racing for Blackjack Ski Team for 3 years and Marquette Mountain Ski Team for 2 years. He loved the rails and pipes and doing flips. He loved to snowmobile and ride his motorcycle. He loved to fish, Kayak, roller skate, skateboard, rollerblade and riding the beautiful back country in the families '47 Jeep with his many friends.
Mat and his dad helicopter skied and back country bowl skied almost all the mountains in the United States. They were truly something beautiful to behold. One of Mats most favorite things to do was to take his family and friends to Canyon Falls, where they would hike back to the rope swing and jump into the Sturgeon River. He could do a double and triple front flip and a double back flip. Amazing! Mat would often say, "I live right by the most epic place on earth."
Mat was a real people person. Smart, sweet, sensitive and extremely funny. He worked at his families business from the age of nine. He was loved by many and tried to help everyone he knew. Mat passed away to young. REST IN PEACE MY LOVE, you will be missed forever.
All who remember and loved Mat are welcome to join his family in a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 8 ^th , 2016 from 1 to 4 at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming. Services from 3-4. Reception 4:00pm at Jasper Ridge.
