Ishpeming - Mary Bonetti Wommer, age 94, longtime Ishpeming resident, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming.
Mary was born in Palmer, Michigan on July 22, 1926, daughter of the late Gentile (Colombo) and Anthony Bonetti. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1944. Mary had worked at the Childs Art Gallery in Ishpeming during her high school years, then at H W Gossard Co and the JC Penney store in Ishpeming along with volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul store for many years. She was a member of St Paul's Catholic Church in Negaunee and had been active in church work, served as eucharistic minister and had headed up the Renew group which was held in her home for over 30 years. Mary enjoyed flower gardening in the summer months.
Mary is survived by four daughters, Mary (Jack) Wommer of Champion; Lisa Sundblad of Ishpeming; Christine (Pete) Corkin of Marquette; Carle Wommer of Jackson, MN; son David (Linda) Wommer of Ishpeming; grandchildren - Michael Wommer, Christopher (Kristina) Wommer, Rachel (Derrick) Carter and Rory (Miranda) Walser; great grandchildren - Jordyn, Avery, Arne, Bruno, Isaiah and Elizabeth. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Burton Wommer, her parents and a brother Frank Bonetti.
A private interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be directed to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 322 Cleveland Ave., Ishpeming, MI 49849.
