Republic, MI- Mary Ann Voegtline, age 87 longtime Republic resident entered eternal life on May 31, 2024, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming. She was in the loving care of her family, the staff of MCMCF and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Mary Ann was born on October 9, 1936, in Park City location of Republic, Michigan. She graduated from Republic High School, class of 1954. She was employed by the Republic-Michigamme Schools for over 20 years, beginning her employment as an aide to teachers and upon her retirement she was the head cook in the school's kitchen. After retirement Mary Ann and Oliver spent many winters in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Mary Ann married her high school sweetheart Oliver on July 17, 1954, in Republic where they raised four children, Curtis, Keith, Judith, and Scott.
Mary Ann's favorite pastime was spending time with her family. Her grandchildren will forever remember their weekends spent at Grandma & Grandpa's. Her family will always cherish memories of the special Sunday dinners.
Mary Ann was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic.
Mary Ann is survived by her children; Curtis (Vickie) Voegtline of Michigamme, Keith (Barbi) Voegtline of Plattsmouth, NE, Judy (Jerry) Senske of Ishpeming and Scott (Flor) Voegtline of Balmorhea, TX, seven grandchildren; Ashley (Brad) Cossi, Amber (Jared) Touminen, Curtis Voegtline Jr., Lance Voegtline, Jeremy Senske, Jason (Crystal) Senske, Jeff (Jamie) Senske, thirteen great grandchildren; Aleeah, Stella, Marissa, Jayla, Harper, Emersyn, Mariah, Mylee, Ava, Liam, Zakary, Riley and Sawyer, very special friends; Marie Olien, Marilyn Helmila, and Betty Heikkinen, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Oliver, her parents Alfred and Aura Ritola and six siblings, George, Arthur, Sulo (Margaret), Wilho (Violet), Aino (John), and Rachel (David). Nieces and nephews, Bonnie, Debbie, Jimmy, and Steve.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home a service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Alex Ross to officiate.
A luncheon will follow at the Ishpeming Township Hall.
A private family burial service will take place at the Republic Cemetery.
Mary Ann's family would like to thank the staff of the Marquette County Medical Care Facility as well as UP Home Health and Hospice for the love and excellent care she received while a resident there. Thanks also to Dr. Wayne Carlson for caring for Mom.
