Ishpeming- Mary G. Salo, age 76 of 1750 Co. Rd. PGG (Tilden Twp) Ishpeming, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital- Hospice Unit while under the care of her family and UP Home Health & Hospice.

Mary was born June 12, 1937 in Palmer to the late George & Hilia (Peura) Kantola. Mary worked briefly at the H.W. Gossard Company and for Bannon Cleaners. Mary enjoyed reading and time spent with her grand-kids. She had a love for animals, bird watching and horses where her favorite. Mary was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Champion.

Mary is survived by her husband Russell Salo, whom she married on October 12, 1963, 2 children: Russell Salo Jr. of Ishpeming and Sherry (Paul) Bunker of Champion, 2 grandchildren: Christina Bunker and Nathaniel Bunker along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents George & Hilia, brothers: Arnie, John, Leo, Elmer and George Kantola, and sisters: Aili Kallio and Esther Sikkila.

Mary's family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00noon-1:00pm on Saturday June 7, 2014 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 1:00pm with Andrew Kandoll to officiate.

Interment will take place in the Covington Twp Cemetery.
