Dubuque, IA- Mary L. McDowell, age 84 former Ishpeming resident passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 at ManorCare Health Services in Dubuque, Iowa.

Mary was born December 18, 1932 in Swartz Creek, MI to the late Lewis and Mildred G. (Hart) Rosenthal. Mary received her high school diploma from Westwood High School and was a trained PN.

Mary was a former member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming and a member of the Ishpeming V.F.W. Auxilary. She enjoyed playing BINGO, reading working crossword puzzles and arts and crafts. She deeply loved all her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by 2 daughters: Cindy (Lee) Cole of Endicott, NY and June (James) Sorensen of Ludington, MI, a sister Gladys Roos of Gwinn, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, daughter Lisa Lyons, son Randy McDowell, 2 sisters: Geraldine and Lena Parks a brother, Charles L. Rosenthal and a sister in law Joyce Peterson.

A graveside service will be held at the Ishpeming Cemetery at a later date.
