Humboldt – Mary K. Kiiskila, age 94, longtime Humboldt Twp. resident went to be with the Lord on Thursday February 26, 2009. She had been residing at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee.


Mary was born January 23, 1915 in Humboldt Twp. the daughter of the late Peter and Briita (Kangas) Koski. She was a graduate of the Champion High School, class of 1935 and a lifelong area resident. Mary took great pride in her home and family, and had been a care giver to her father-in-law Henry for many years. Mary was a member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church.


Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of brothers and sisters in faith. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert in 1987, her parents, 4 brothers – William, Arvid, Eino and Eli Koski, and 4 sisters – Ellen Mattson, Hulda Mattila, Julia Koski and Bertha Walters.


Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 3:00pm on Sunday March 1, 2009 at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, Co. Rd. 492, Negaunee. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday at the Church with Charles Prusi to officiate. Interment will take place at the Humboldt Twp. Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Mary's nephews.
