Obituary

Ishpeming Township – Mary Jane Tasson, 84, of 105 N. Daisy Street passed away at 12:40 PM on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she had resided since July. She was surrounded by her family and friends, U.P. Home Health and Hospice, and a wonderful caring staff at Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

Mary Jane was born on September 23, 1926 to the late John C. Coad and Mary O. (Roberts) Coad. She was a lifelong Ishpeming resident graduating from Ishpeming High School in 1944 with membership in the National Honor Society. On September 17, 1949 she married Rocco P. Tasson and together they built their home and enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Mary Jane worked as a secretary for Dr. W. A. Corcoran and later for the Iron Range Insurance Agency retiring in 1973. She enjoyed time spent with her family and especially her grandson, Jay. Mary Jane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed keeping up her home, cheering for the Red Wings, and in her younger years enjoyed travel trailer camping.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis R. and Alberta Tasson of Ishpeming, her grandson and his wife, Jay and Alexandria Tasson, and great-grandson Brandon Tasson all of Walla Walla, WA. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth and Mary Tasson of Ishpeming, brother-in-law, Bernard Tasson of Marquette, first cousins Paul (Nancy) Roberts of Arcadia, CA, Rita (Robert) Corradina and Lois (David) St. Onge of Ishpeming, nieces, nephews, and other relatives including some in Cornwall, England. In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband Rocco in 2007.

Funeral services will be held at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 with the Rev. Scott Lindenberg to officiate. Friends may call at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home from 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 and at Wesley United Methodist Church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Ishpeming Cemetery. Pallbearers include Neil Oysti, Jay LeRoy, Matt Kivikko, and David Poirier.

In addition to the staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility and U. P. Home Health and Hospice, the family wishes to thank all of the relatives, friends, neighbors, and professionals who contributed to Mary Jane's care over the last several years.
