Ishpeming Twp- Mary A. Hughes, age 80 of 1575 Glenwood Lane Ishpeming passed away Friday December 22, 2017 at UP Health System Marquette.

Mary was born March 25, 1937 in Marinette, WI to the late Edward A. and Agnes V. (Pigeon) DeChambeau. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1955 and received an Associate Degree from Northern Michigan University where she worked for a shot period of time in the Deans Office. Mary worked as a secretary for St. Joseph Catholic Church for Fr. LaPin, later working for the Marquette-Alger Intermediate School District and retired in 2006 from the special education office at Marquette Public Schools.

Mary was a life long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was active in many aspects of the church including the Ladies Guild.

Mary is survived by a daughter Catherine Hughes of Ishpeming, 4 brothers: Edward Z. (Margaret) DeChambeau of Shelby Twp, MI, Phillip (Gloria) DeChambeau of Shelby Twp, MI, Joseph DeChambeau of Ishpeming and Stephen DeChambeau of Chesterfield, MI, 2 grandchildren: Alec and Katie Marin of Cedar Rapids, IA and Clark Lanczy of Ishpeming, along with many very special nieces, nephews and cousin Kenneth Jaykka and his family. Mary was preceded in death her parents, husband: Timothy P. "Bud" Hughes, and a son Timothy P. Hughes Jr.

Mary's family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on Friday December 29, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Fr. Dan Moll as celebrant. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or the St. Joseph Memorial Fund in memory of Mary Hughes.
