Humboldt Twp.- Mary J. Gustafson, age 79 of 484 Co. Rd. FD Champion (Humboldt Twp) passed away Friday February 14, 2014 at her home while in the loving care of her family and UP Home Health & Hospice. Mary was born January 23, 1935 in Humboldt Twp to August A. & Sophia (Keski) Pekuri. She was a graduate of Champion High School, class of 1952. Mary was known for her bread making and enjoyed taking saunas. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by 4 children: Gary (Robin) Gustafson of Menominee, MI, Trudy (Peter Frustaglio) Gustafson of Ishpeming, Robert (Tracie) Gustafson of Neenah, WI and Richard Gustafson of Brillion, WI, 8 grandchildren: Jeremiah (Rebecca), Joshua (Sarah), Luke (Ashley), Cody, Seth, Nate, Rebecca and Sam Gustafson, 4 great grandchildren: Brendan & Allison Gustafson, Tyler & Tanner Leach, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer in 2012, a grandson David Meyer Jr. in 2012, 4 brothers: Clarence Hill, John, Robert & Norman Pekuri and a sister Priscilla Johnson. Mary's family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00 noon-2:00 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm with Rev. Marcia Solberg officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Humboldt Twp Cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.
