Ishpeming- Mary A. Chapman, age 73 of 801 N. Third St. Ishpeming passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the UP Health System Marquette where she had been a patient for 1 day.

Mary was born May 17, 1943 in Milwaukee to the late Edward & Roma (McCollough) Candler. She graduated from Riverside High School in Milwaukee. Mary worked as a receptionist for the West Ishpeming Dental Center and later for Dr. Remien's dental office where she retired from in 2007.

Mary was a former Girl Scout Leader and was a member of the Girl Scout Hall of Fame. She enjoyed working on puzzles, an occasional trip to the casino, and watching her grandchildren playing basketball and softball.

Mary is survived by 2 daughters: Beckie (Greg) Ryan of Jenison, MI and Debbie (Ryan) Brouillette of Ishpeming, Bruce Chapman of Ishpeming, 4 grandchildren: Chelsey (fiancé Jeff Poirier) Belden, Jordann Grigg, Mason Ryan and Marcus Ryan, a sister Barbara Hoffman of Milwaukee, along with nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters Joan & Judy.

A memorial service for Mary will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Thursday June 2, 2016 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. Mary's family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday at the Bethel Lutheran Church from 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00 noon.

A luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.
