Negaunee - Mary Beth "Mrs. C" Champion, age 73, of 151 Rail St. Apt#114, Negaunee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had been a resident for the past 2 weeks. She had been under the care of her loved ones, staff at MCMCF and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.
Mary was born in Ishpeming, on January 12, 1946, a daughter of the late Edna Mary (Hooper) and William Leslie Quayle. She grew up in Ishpeming and married Larry J. Champion on May 29, 1971. Mary worked mainly as a nurse's aide at Morgan Heights, Bell Memorial Hospital and then at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility. She was a longtime member of Salisbury United Methodist Church where she had sung in the church choir. Enjoyed and loved country music, puzzle books and playing BINGO. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Mary is survived by three children – Nicole, known as "the Warden" to her mom and (Robert) Hyry, Scott (Tabitha) Champion both of Ishpeming, and Michele (Jason) Lehigh of Sands Twp., a brother Scott "Squally" (Linda) Quayle, of Ishpeming; her beautiful grandchildren - Chelsee M. Hyry, Ryan R. Hyry, Jordan Sutton, Macie Lehigh, Hunter Lehigh and Raymond Champion, many nieces nephews and cousins including special niece Debbie Skewis and special cousin Lynn Ketchem.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry Champion in 2000, brother James Quayle in 1998, twin brothers Lance and Allen Quayle and grandson Trever Lehigh all in their infancy, and a good friend Sheila Kump
Funeral Services will be at Noon on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Osborne officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM till the time of services on Saturday at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the services at the Ishpeming Twp. Hall.
