Ishpeming - Martha E. Laitinen, 95, of 98 Croix St. Negaunee, passed away Tuesday, July 15th, 2008 at her home.

Martha was born in Negaunee, on December 21, 1912, the daughter of the late Samuel and Liisa (Ranta) Raittila. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and a life long area resident. Martha enjoyed knitting, crocheting and making wreaths. She also loved spending time with her family and reading, especially the Bible.

Martha is survived by 2 Grandchildren: Sheila (Henry) Espinoza of Negaunee and
Steven (Sherri) Laitinen of Negaunee, 4 great grandchildren: Jacob, Jenna, Kayleigh and Chelsey. Martha is also survived by a sister, Mae Etelamaki of Negaunee and a daughter-in-law Eileen Brooks Laitinen of Ishpeming. She was preceded in death by her husband Adolph, a son Wesley, 2 sisters Aili Anderson and Ellen Ranta and a brother Uno Raittila.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Pastor Lauri O. Maki officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
