Marquette- Mark Paul Trotochaud, age 78 of Marquette, Michigan passed away at his home on Friday October 19, 2018 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer while in the loving care of his family and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Mark was born in Marquette on September 3, 1940 to Mark Paul and Jeanette (Durocher) Trotochaud. He graduated from Bishop Baraga High School in 1958 and NMU in 1962 with a bachelor's degree. He was employed by the LS&I Railroad in various office positions, retiring in 1999.
In 2002 he and his wife Katherine (Akkanen), moved to Petticoat Lake (Michigamme) where they resided for 17 years, before moving back to Marquette in 2017.
Mark loved sports; fishing, hunting, basketball, and golfing, and enjoyed telling stories about his childhood years with his brother, Jerry, in the Holy Family Orphanage in Marquette.
Mark is survived by his wife, Katherine; children from previous marriage, Jill (Tim) Bryant of Marquette, Mark Paul (Jenny) Trotochaud of Midland, MI, stepchildren: Matthew (Sarah) Smart of Marquette, Nicholas (Christina) Smart of Murfreesboro, TN, Grandchildren: Emily Bryant, Alexis, William, Addison, Piper, Jaidyn and Arabella Smart, Brothers: Gerald (Mae) Trotochaud, and John Spalding, Sisters: Carol Ann Kilnowitz, Carmen (Milton) Barbee, Catherine (William) West, Andrea Lenardson and Theresa Trotochaud, brother in law David (Jane Pollock) Akkanen, several nieces, nephews, and special great niece Jessica (Richard) Hoblitzell. Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved pets, Douglas and Shelby.
Friends may call at Woodland Untied Methodist Church, US 41 West, Michigamme from 12:30 pm, Tuesday October 23, until the time of the memorial service at 2:00 pm with Pastor Peter Lemoine officiating.
A dessert social will follow in the church basement.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Binoniemi, Bruce Ekdahl, Darrel Fezatt and Gary Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UPAWS of Marquette County, or a charity of choice, in remembrance of Mark.
