Obituary

Humboldt Twp- Marjorie Ann Prophet, age 69 of 871 County Road FN, Humboldt Location, Champion, MI, passed away at Marquette General Hospital on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 7:30a.m. following a 45-day illness.

Marjorie was born in the family home in Humboldt on November 23, 1937 to Richard and Wilma (Koskela) Kulju and was a graduate of Champion High School, class of 1955. She married Tom Prophet on October 13, 1962.

Marjorie worked in the office of J.C. Penny in Ishpeming from 1955 to 1960; at the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company's Humboldt Mine from 1960 through 1967. She then stayed at home to raise her 3 sons until 1978 when her and her husband went into the insurance business. She was an insurance agent and continued working at the Prophet Insurance Agency up to the time of her recent illness.

Marjorie was a member of the Laestadian Lutheran Church of Ishpeming.

Marjorie is survived by her husband Thomas; 3 sons: James (Jodi) Prophet of Ishpeming, John (Tara) Prophet of Appleton, WI and Jeffrey (Dana) Prophet of Champion; 8 grandchildren: Chase, Nora, Ava, Tessa, Tyler, Amanda, Natalie and Alyssa; 1 brother Roy (Bernice) Kulju of Green Bay, WI; 4 sisters Marion Isaacson of Republic, Marlene Kulju of Humboldt, Mavina (John) Etelamaki of Humboldt and Marilyn Brancheau of Republic, sisters in law; Joan Kulju of Negaunee, Linda Kulju of Ishpeming, Barbara Plough of Evans, Washington, Faith Prophet of Gwinn and Phea Anderson of St. Paul, Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Wilma Kulju, 5 brothers: Russell, Rudolph, Raymond, Robert and Roger; 1 sister Mildred and 1 nephew Richard Kulju.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2007, at the Laestadian Lutheran Church on Washington Street, Ishpeming, with Dan Rintamaki and James Keplinger to officiate.

Visitation will be held at the Laestadian Lutheran Church from 4:00-8:00p.m. Saturday August 11, 2007 and on Sunday August 12, 2007 from 10:00a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00a.m.

Pallbearers will be Doug, Dave, and Dan Etelamki, Dean and Don Kulju, all nephews of the deceased, and Peter Kuopus.
