Ishpeming- Marion Salson, age 82, longtime Diorite area resident, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday May 30, 2019 at UP Health System Marquette.
Marion was born on March 2, 1937 in Republic, daughter of the late James and Josephine (St. Andre) LaBeau. She grew up in Republic and graduated from Republic High School.
Marion loved being with her family, enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, tending to her lawn and flowers, picking blueberries, going to the casino, playing cards with her sisters and daughter, and fishing with her special friend the late James Quayle.
Marion is survived by her daughter- Rhonda (Jim) Lahti, son-in-law- Aaron Latvala, sister- Marie Olien, grandchildren- Jesse (fiancée Abby Patrikus) Lahti, Kristi (Vince) Sestito, Jason (Michelle) Rankinen, great grandchildren- Kaylee, Ty, and Deegan Lahti, Talan Larson, Rachel (Mark) Skytta, Haleigh Carne, great great granddaughter- Audrey Skytta, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband- Ronald Polkki, second husband- William Salson, infant sons- Ronald and Gene, daughter- Cindy Latvala, siblings- Alice Haapala, Lois Beaupied, and Elsworth LaBeau.
Marion's family will greet relatives and friends on Friday June 21, 2019 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming from 12:00 noon until 1:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm with Rev. Fr. Ryan Ford celebrating. A luncheon will follow the Mass in the K/D Hall.
