Ishpeming Twp.- Marilyn V. (Eade) Ostlund, age 81 of Ishpeming Township resident passed away on Wednesday October 24, 2018 at UP Health System Bell where she been a patient for the past 2 days. Despite living with MS for over 30 years, Marilyn found joy in all she did and had a wonderful life.
Marilyn was born January 26, 1937 in Ishpeming to William and Marie (Wuorenmaa) Eade. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1955 and Northern Michigan University in 1959 with a degree in Early Elementary Education. She received her master's degree in Learning Disabilities from Seattle Pacific University. After teaching six years in Renton, Washington she finished her career at Birchview School in Ishpeming. Marilyn was a lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Marilyn enjoyed gardening, decorating inside and outside of her home, being on the front porch at camp, canoeing and being part of all her children's and grandchildren's activities. Most dear to her heart was Sophie her golden retriever.
Marilyn is survived by 2 wonderful children, Peter C. (Karen) Ostlund and Pamela J. (Chris) Roose, 4 fantastic grandchildren: Miranda Roose, Michael Ostlund, Hunter Roose and Nathan Ostlund, her sister: Barbara (George) Bonovich, brother in law: Ed Gagnon and nieces and nephews: Allan, DL, Linda, Jeff, and Gene. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, George in 2018 whom she has been dearly missing, parents, William and Marie Eade, father/mother-in-law Carl and Helen Ostlund, brother-in-law Kenneth Ostlund and sister-in-law and one of her best friends Betty Gagnon.
Marilyn's family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00am on Saturday October 27, 2018 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. A coffee/dessert social will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
Memorials may be directed to the Bethel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund 333 E. Ridge St. Ishpeming, MI 49849 in memory of Marilyn.
