Ishpeming, MI- Marilyn Ann Hoffman, age 92, longtime Ishpeming resident passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Eastwood Nursing Center.
Marilyn was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on February 6, 1928, a daughter of the late William J. and Elizabeth B. (Verrant) Tregembo.
Marilyn graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1946, and St. Luke's School of Nursing in Marquette in 1949, where she received her RN degree.
Marilyn worked in the healthcare for many years, retiring from Marquette General Hospital in 1991 as a nursing supervisor where she worked for 22 years.
Marilyn was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming. Prior to some health challenges in recent years, she was an active member of the church and one of their celebrated pasty makers. She insisted on sitting in the last church pew at holiday services despite being one of the first to arrive, much to the consternation of her family. She enjoyed painting, crafting, and teasing friends and strangers. She loved being around her family, particularly her cherished grandchildren, and was known endearingly by family and many others as "Ma Hoffman".
Marilyn is survived by four children: Paulette (Ronald) Wuotila of Green Bay, WI, John (Cathy) Hoffman of Ishpeming, Kevin (Sharon) Hoffman of Cornell and Celeste Prusi of Appleton, WI; Grandchildren: Brad (Molly) Wuotila, Sarah (Brice) Nelson, Jack Hoffman, Heather (Justin Warsham) Hoffman, Justin Hoffman, Travis Hoffman, Drew (Natalie) Walker, John (Evelyn) Walker, Elizabeth (Brandon) Dodge, Andrew Prusi, Abram Prusi, Kobe Nason; Great grandchildren: Lucy and Lyla Wuotila, Brynn, Bergen, Britta Nelson, Jere, Wesley, and Louis Walker, Brandon and Brogan Dodge, Aiden and Abrielle Prusi; along with niece, Val (Ollie) Valima, and nephews Dan (Brenda) Tregembo and Dave (Patty) Tregembo, and many great nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Bill (Donna) Tregembo.
Marilyn's family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 -11:00 am on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am with Pastor Robert Freysinger to officiate.
A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
We would like to give special thanks to Eastwood Nursing Center staff for the wonderful care and for going above and beyond to keep everyone's spirits up, especially during this trying time.
