Ishpeming- Marian L. Benson, age 94, former resident of Clarksburg passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she had resided for more than 11 years.

Marian was born on August 24, 1922 in Humboldt, MI to the late Arthur and Lempi (Finni) Rosten. She graduated from Champion High School and worked in Chicago and at the H.W. Gossard Company in Ishpeming. She married Alton J. Benson on May 24, 1947. Marian served as an election inspector for the Ely Township Election Board and also enjoyed participating/cooking for the Michigamme Township senior meals program. She was known for her baked beans, blueberry pies and prune tarts.

Marian is survived by her sister Ruth Kimar of Negaunee and sister-in-law Marjorie Rosten of Ishpeming and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents: husband, Alton, in March of 2006; brothers: Elmer, Reino, Paul, Arnold, Francis, & Bernhardt Rosten, and sisters Sylvia Rosten and Maria Eleanor Tulkki.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Humboldt Twp Cemetery with the Rev. D. Michael carriere to officiate.  A Luncheon will follow at the Humboldt Twp. Hall. The family would like to thank the staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility (MCMCF) where she received excellent and compassionate care.
