Marjorie "Marge" Sullivan
Republic – Marjorie "Marge" Sullivan, age 86, of 174 Willow Dr., Republic passed away on Thursday February 8, 2007 at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming Twp. where she had resided since January 20th.
Marge was born July 30, 1920 in Ishpeming to the Hannah (Salson) and EJ "Dukes" St. Onge. She graduated from the Ishpeming High School in 1938. After graduation, she worked in Chicago, returned to Ishpeming and worked at the former Beau Chateau in Negaunee, the H W Gossard Co. in Ishpeming, and St. Vincent's in Republic. She married Giles "Kayo" Sullivan on April 15, 1944. He preceded her in passing in 1995.
Marge was an active member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic, Sang in the choir for more than 30 years, was a member of the Rosary Alter Society, was a volunteer for St. Vincent's, and helped with the pasty sales at St. Augustine's. Marge loved to cook for large family dinners, cook or bake – especially for St. Augustine's, go out to dinner play cards, have company, visit, go to the casinos, talk with friends, talk with new friends and meet new people.
Marge was a loving and very proud mother to and is survived by Clark and his wife Bobbi of Swartz Creek, MI, and Steve and his wife Deanna of DePere, WI; a loving and adored grandmother to Sean and his wife Becky of St. Peters, MO and Jason and his wife Jodi of DePere, WI; and a very proud and loving great-grandmother to Garrett of DePere, WI. Survivors also include her brother, Bernie St.Onge and his wife Eileen of Escanaba, special sister-in-law Lorraine St.Onge of Ishpeming, sister-in-law Florence Sullivan-Kulbicki of Republic, sister-in-law Babe Blemberg-Dawe of Marquette, special niece Sharon Kangas of Republic, and many more loved nieces and nephews.
Friends – too many to name, but with special mention to Tammy Mattson and her family of Republic, Lucille Heliste of Ishpeming – formerly of Republic, Wally and Marilyn Helmila of Republic, Dorothy Heinonen of Republic, her friend since childhood Charlotte Lehtinen of Ishpeming, and her special card playing buddies – Donna, Celia, Cora and Lillian of Republic, also survive her.
Preceded Marge in death were her parents' Hannah and Dukes St.Onge, her husband Kayo, her brother Don St.Onge in 1989, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law – Denny and Alice Sullivan of Republic, Ray and Helen Sullivan of Republic, John Sullivan of Republic, Dorothy St.Onge of Escanaba and Girlie Roberts of Marquette.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm on Saturday February 10, 2007 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic with the Rev. Msgr. Peter Oberto to officiate. Interment will take place at the Republic Cemetery in the spring.
Friends may call at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic from 11:00am until the time of services on Saturday.
Marge's family expresses their deep and profound gratitude to the staff at the Mather Nursing Center, Dr. Lloyd Hooper, and the Bell Hospital for their gentle and kind care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Marge's memory.
