MARGARET O'CONNOR

Ishpeming – Margaret Odette O'Connor, age 105, of 200 Saginaw St., passed away on Sunday October 24, 2010 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming while under the tender and loving care of the staff and the Lake Superior Hospice.
Margaret was born May 31, 1905 in Humboldt Twp. the daughter of the late Lorn C. and Ollie M. (Olmstead) Bernard. She married the late James O'Connor and they worked on the family farm in Chassell. Moving back to this area they ran a tavern in Marquette, and also a grocery store in Champion for several years. In 1965 she moved to Connecticut to be closer to her family, and resided there until the late 1970's when she moved back to this area. Margaret enjoyed singing, cooking, knitting and playing Bingo.
Survivors include a grandson James S. (Mary Lou) Richards of Westport, CT, 5 great grandchildren – James J. Richards, Jennifer Davis, Jacqueline DiGuiseppi, Jeanette DiGuiseppi and Marcia Richards, 7 great great grandchildren – Emily, James and Genevieve Richards, Henri Davis, Tristan, Nora and Jack DiGuiseppi. She was preceded in death by her husband James O'Connor, a daughter Margaret "Peggy" Richards, a grandson Mark A. Richards, 3 sisters - Annie, Mollie and Hazel and 2 brothers - Bob and Traffard Bernard.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday October 27, 2010 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens in Negaunee Twp.
