Ishpeming Twp- Margaret Haukkala, age 96 formerly of North Lake location passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at the Lighthouse at Ishpeming where she has resided for the past 12 years.

Margaret was born March 27, 1921 in Ishpeming to Anthony and Genevieve (Bertucci) Barbiere, she was proud of her Italian heritage (100%). She attended Ishpeming High School and became a seamstress at the H.W. Gossard Company. Margaret went to Chicago to work in a munitions factory during World War II. She married the late William Haukkala. Margaret was an avid reader.

Margaret is survived by 2 children: Cynthia (Richard) Sarasien of Marquette and William (Lynn) Haukkala of Ishpeming, grandchildren: Eric Pawlusiak, Michael (Kelly) Pawlusiak, Lindsay Haukkala, Billy Haukkala, great grandchildren: Ashley (Matt) Cody, Jesse Pawlusiak, Lilly Pawlusiak, Jenna and Kori Morrison along with great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Haukkala Sr., sisters and brothers in law: Mary (Bernard) Muscari, Katherine (Frank) Patlyck, Frances (Lawrence) Stock, granddaughter Melissa Heribacka, great granddaughter Shea Heribacka and a stillborn son Tony.

Honoring Margaret's wishes there will be no public service.

Margaret's family would like to thank the Lighthouse Nursing Home staff for the wonderful care given to Margaret for the past 12 years.
