Obituary

Margaret E. Coyle, 75, Margaret Elaine Coyle, 75, of Hibbing, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at her home.

Margaret was born Sept. 10, 1932, to Horace and Eva (Toupin) Morell in Ishpeming. She grew up and attended school in Ishpeming, graduating from Ishpeming High School in 1951. She worked as a secretary at Cleveland Cliffs Research Lab for several years. It was there she met her future husband, David S. Coyle, a metallurgist. Margaret and David were married on July 18, 1959. They moved to Hibbing with their three young children in 1965 when the Eveleth Taconite plant started up in Forbes.

With her family, Margaret enjoyed many fishing and camping trips in Northern Minnesota and Canada. She was a volunteer at St. Leo's Catholic Church on the parish's finance committee and active in the annual church and school bazaar. She enjoyed trips to Mexico with her husband and in 1978 won a trophy for catching the largest shark during a tournament in Mazatlan. In the mid-1980s, Margaret lived in Labrador City, Newfoundland, for several months when David was working there as a mining consultant.

An avid bingo player, Margaret also enjoyed trips to nearby casinos, playing cards and reading. She touched many lives and helped many people through Al-Anon, where she was very involved with service work. She had a keen sense of humor and generous heart. A tiny woman, Margaret was known for great strength of character and made an impact on all who knew her.

She is survived by three children: a son, Mark Coyle of San Francisco, two daughters, Pamela (Shaun Washburn) Coyle of Nashville, Tenn., and Kristen Coyle of Minneapolis; a brother, Emery Morell of Negaunee, Mich.; a sister, Betty (Morell) Chapman of Marquette, Mich.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 1, 2006; her parents; brothers: Damien Morell, Clement Morell and Brother Clayton Morell, S.J.; and a sister, Cecile (Morell) Peterson.

Burial took place on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

A Memorial service will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday November 3, 2007 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Fr. Greg Heikkala officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives from 11:30am until the time of services on Saturday.
