Obituary

Marquette - Louis J. "Louie" Marra, 94, longtime Ishpeming resident, of 425 Fisher St. Marquette passed away Tuesday, November 20th, at the D. J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

Louis was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on May 29, 1924, a son of the late Rose (Stagliano) and Joseph Marra. Louie was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Machinist Mate 1/C in WW II receiving the Asiatic Pacific area Campaign medal. He returned home following the war and was employed as a Route Carrier "Mail Man" with the US Postal Service serving out of the Ishpeming Post Office for 35+ years.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church along with the Ishpeming Elks Lodge and the Ishpeming VFW.

Louis is survived by three daughters, Jean (Roy) Woodruff of Troy; Kathleen (Steven) Totaro of Dearborn; Nancy A. Rowe of Marquette; along with 4 grandchildren, Joshua Miller, Rachel Miller, Eric Totaro, John Rowe; several nieces and nephews and good friend Alice Haapala. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers – Sam, Jim, Dominic & Tony and 4 sisters – Cecilia, Teresa, Genevieve, Elizabeth.

Cremation has taken place with a family graveside service to be held at the Ishpeming Cemetery in the spring.
