Ishpeming – Lorraine V. Manty, age 89, formerly of 111 Bluff St. Ishpeming passed away at 6:45am on Monday September 29, 2008 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility where she had resided since May of this year.


Lorraine was born December 8, 1918 in Gwinn, the daughter of the late Victor and Signe (Johnson) Gauthier. She was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of the Ishpeming High School. She was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed cooking, reading and playing cards especially cribbage. Lorraine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed being around her family.

Lorraine is survived by two sons – Bruce (Pat) Manty, and Peter Manty both of Ishpeming; 2 sisters – Barbara (Norman) Pennala and Sharon (Matt) Bjorne both of Ishpeming, 4 grandchildren – Kristine Manty, Scott (Laura) Manty, Dean Manty and his fiancée Heidi, and Kally Manty and her fiancé Jesse; 3 great grandchildren – Dennis and Luke Manty, & Jack Goldsworthy; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert "Woody" Manty in 1984, a son Jerry Manty, 2 sisters – Shirley Coduti and Jean Raymond, a brother Norman Gauthier.


Private funeral services will be held at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Virginia Eggert to officiate. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens in Negaunee Twp.


Lorraine's family would like to thank the Doctors and Staff at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility for the loving care that she received while residing there.
