Ishpeming – Lorraine O. Nyman, age 78 of 300 Washington St. Ishpeming, passed away on at 3:05am on Friday June 17, 2011 at the Marquette General Hospital in Marquette where she had been a patient for the past two days.


Lorraine was born May 2, 1933 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Norris R. and Melva (White) Ward. She was raised in Arbutus, MD working at the Solo Cup Co. in her teens. Lorraine married Clarence C. Nyman on December 27, 1952 in Baltimore, and they resided in Maryland until 1964 when they moved to Marquette, MI. Lorraine and Clarence moved several times between Marquette, Negaunee and Ishpeming where they had been most recently. Lorraine's family always brought joy and happiness to her. She had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Violetville Fire Dept. in Maryland. Lorraine enjoyed listening to country music, going camping in the travel trailer even spending a winter in Texas in 1995 following Clarence's retirement.


Survivors include her husband Clarence C. Nyman of Ishpeming, 4 children – Clyde (Sue) Nyman of Ishpeming, Sherry (Dennis) Paulson of Negaunee Twp., David (Barbara) Nyman of Appleton, WI and Carol (Kenny) Maddock of Ishpeming, 4 grandchildren – Brooke Nyman, Shane Nyman, Stacie Nyman and Markus Maddock, a brother Robert L. Ward of Arbutus, MD, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins both in Maryland and Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers – Ridgley N. and Gordon M. Ward.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 2 until 4pm on Monday June 20, 2011 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm on Monday at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. Interment will take place at the Negaunee Cemetery.
