Crystal Falls – Lorraine Alzena Goodney, age 95, of Iron River, MI passed away at 10:30p.m. on Tuesday July 17, 2007 at the Iron County Medical Care facility where she had resided since January of 2005.
Lorraine was born on September 9, 1911 in Baltic, MI the daughter of the late John and Nellie (Charles) Perniski. Lorraine attended Eastern Michigan University and later taught in the South Gate school system as an elementary school teacher. She and Lester spent summers at their cottage on Chicagon Lake in Crystal Falls. Lorraine was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian.
Survivors include Lorraine's daughter Roxanne Goodney of Iron River, a sister Blanche Goodman of Calumet, a brother-in-law Ed Lazzari of Florida,, 7 grandchildren: Crystal Remer, Dawne Felder, Mark Horton, Stephen Horton, Starr Helgemo, Leland Horton, and Darryl (Dana) Hawke, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren, nephews David (Lois) St.Onge of Ishpeming, Paul St.Onge of Negaunee, and Chuck Goodman of Houghton, niece: Barbara Torreano of Norway, MI.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Lester V. Goodney, sister: Mae Lazzari and Prena St.Onge, brothers: Clifford Volois and Walter Volois.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday July 20, 2007 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr. James Challancin to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
