Ishpeming – Lorie L. Perry, age 54, of 408 S. Lake St., Ishpeming passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Marquette General Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past 13 days following a heart attack.


Lorie was born February 14, 1960 in Ishpeming the daughter of Robert D. and Carrie H. (Tuominen) Emanuelson. Lorie was a graduate of the Westwood High School, Class of 1978. She went on to work for AT&T in Marquette for several years. Lorie attended Northern Michigan University where she received her bachelor degree in nursing. Her nursing career took her to Arizona as a traveling nurse prior to returning to this area. While in Ishpeming, Lorie worked as a RN at the Mather Nursing Center for several years.


Lorie was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church. The highlight of her days in recent years was in taking care of her grandchildren. Lorie also enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, quilting and reading.


Survivors include her husband Michael A. Perry of Ishpeming, whom she married on January 7, 2005; her parents Robert D. and Carrie Emanuelson of Champion (Ely Twp.); 2 sons – Robert J. (Rachael) Mager of Ishpeming and Kristopher (Alyssa) Mager of National Mine; a sister Lisa (Daniel) Swiedals of Michigamme; a niece Danielle Swiedals; grandchildren – Emanuel, Elijah, Noah along with an expected grandchild in December; step-daughters – Rachael (Steve) Laurin of Ishpeming and Rebecca (Nick) Sanchez of Chicago; step-grandchildren – Alexa, Jesse, Grace, William, Ava and Nola; special lifelong pen-pal – Karen; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.


A private memorial service will be held for Lorie at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate.
