Marquette- Lola E. Artwich, age 93, longtime area resident, passed away in the early morning on Wednesday June 21, 2023 at UP Health System Marquette.

Lola was born in Marenisco, Michigan on June 27, 1929, daughter of the late Earl and Elsie (Russell) Bishop. She grew up in the Wakefield-Marenisco area before moving to Ishpeming and resided in Marquette in retirement. Lola worked as a CNA in home health for many years.

Lola enjoyed crafting, singing and music, having grown up as part of the Bishop Swingsters.  Lola was fondly known by her grandchildren as "Grandma Witch".  She humorously told her family that upon her passing they could say "the Witch hit the Ditch".

Lola is survived by 7 children- Diana (Forest) Hill, Sandra Chappell, Donna Fellenz, Bonnie Gagnon, Calvin (Marcia) Taylor, Renae (Richard Wahl) McHenry, Melinda Blanchard, sister- Delores (James) Budgick, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, as well as many of her friends from Lost Creek. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and two brothers.

Lola's family would like to extend a special thank you to her personal caregiver, Becky Guldi, Debra Nance at Upcap, and the staff at UP Health System Marquette for all of their wonderful care.

Following Lola's wishes, cremation will take place with interment in the Ishpeming Cemetery to follow in late July.
