Obituary

Ishpeming – Lois M. Waters, age 84 of 802 Palms Ave., Ishpeming, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 while surrounded by her loving family at the Marquette General Hospital after suffering a heart attack on Monday at her home.


Lois was born in Ishpeming to John and Elizabeth (Argall) Glanville on June 21, 1927. She was a lifelong Ishpeming resident and a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1945. Lois married Robert E. Waters on August 6, 1949 in the Wesley United Methodist Church of Ishpeming. As a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church she was active with the United Methodist Women and various committees for several years. Lois and her husband enjoyed camping with family and friends for several decades. She loved to watch her children and grandchildren in many sporting events and recitals over the years.


Lois is survived by her husband Robert E. Waters of Ishpeming, four sons – Brian (Linda) Waters of Ishpeming, Bob Waters of Marquette, Bill (Coleen) Waters of Ishpeming and Steve (Lori) Waters of Negaunee, five grandchildren – Sarah (Roger) Riutta of Gouverneur, NY, Rebecca (Mark) Korpi of Ishpeming, Robert Waters of Mt. Pleasant, Brad Waters of Ishpeming and May Waters of Negaunee, four great grandchildren, Abigail, Elizabeth, William and Emma Riutta all in Gouverneur, NY with a 5th great grandchild expected in June. Also surviving is a brother Ken (Hyun) Glanville of Bonita, CA, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Clifford and Midge Waters of Negaunee, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Edith Jones and Clarice DePetro.


The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am until 12:00noon on Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming, with funeral services to follow at 12:00noon with the Rev. Scott Lindenberg to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Lois's grandchildren.


Memorials may be directed to the Wesley United Methodist Church memorial fund or to a charity of one's choice in Lois's memory.
