Ishpeming Twp. – Lois E. Roberts, of 135 Seilo Ave. Ishpeming Twp. passed away on Monday January 24, 2011 as a result of smoke inhalation sustained in a house fire at her home in Ishpeming Twp.


Lois was born May 11, 1928 in Marquette, MI the daughter of Emil and Cecilia E. (Priebe) Roeder. Lois grew up in West Branch and was a graduate of the Marquette High School. She went on to become a beautician, attending beautician school in downstate Michigan. In her younger years she worked as a beautician at local beauty shops. Lois went on to work at the Mining Journal for several years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.


Lois loved her grandchildren, and could always be found watching their activities and events. She was proud to have participated in the establishment of the NICE school district & Westwood High School. She will be remembered for her green thumb, always being able to bring back to life the flowers and tomato plants (with a little miracle grow) which did not looks so good when she bought them. Lois loved to watch the Green Bay Packers and also C-Span.


Survivors include two daughters – Ann (Richard) Brown of Ishpeming, and Stacee (Thomas) Hamm of Wixom, MI, a sister Grace Trotter of Turner, OR, 2 grandchildren – Elizabeth and Heather Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Roberts in 1998, a son Daniel whom perished with her on Monday and a sister Beatrice Anderson.


The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am – 12:00 noon on Friday January 28, 2011 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming. Funeral services will follow in conjunction with her son Daniel's at 12:00noon at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Lahners to officiate. A luncheon will follow in the hall at the Trinity Lutheran Church.
